Aufguss and Benefit
Aufguss: Aufguss (also called “Steam blow”) is a ritual of mental and physical wellbeing performed in the sauna. It consists of pouring water and/or crushed ice containing essential oils onto the brazier. Once in contact with the heat of the sizzling stones they vaporize and spread throughout the sauna.
The Aufgussmeister (or “Sauna Master”) performs the Aufguss ritual, directing scented vapors and steam towards the guests and using different rhythmic movements of a towel, sometimes accompanied by music, to create an intense, enjoyable multi-sensory experience.
What are the benefits of Saunas and Aufguss?
The Sauna activates the lymphatic system, boosting the immune system and preventing infections. It strengthens and relaxes the respiratory muscles, is recommended for some forms of asthma and is effective in treating chronic cases of all forms of rheumatism due to its pain-relieving effects. It improves the metabolism of the excretory organs (kidneys, liver, pancreas) thanks to the increase in blood circulation and maximizes the elimination of toxins. It also relaxes the central nervous system and muscles, improves mood and mental wellness, especially if combined with pleasant music that triggers the release of dopamine and stimulates the pleasure centers of the brain.
