The Russian Bath is a type of sauna made entirely of precious, scented Kelo wood (polar pine that has naturally dried out). It can reach temperatures of up to 70°C at a much higher levels of humidity than the Finnish sauna.
Unlike the other treatments, essential oils are not used in the Russian Aufguss ritual. Instead scents come directly from Birch, Oak and Eucalyptus branches (Venik) which, on contact with the brazier, produce fragrances reminiscent of nature. The dimensions of this sauna mean the Aufguss rituals can be performed with a flag.
